This is an outreach activity started during 2004-05. Aim of this activity is to provide repair & maintenance services at the door steps of colleges thereby maximizing the effectiveness of the activity. These programs aimed at creating maintenance culture in colleges and awareness about the instruments and their problems. Such type of camps particularly useful before practical exams.
Providing professional services at an affordable costs to various colleges in and around Mumbai . Many colleges got the benefit of this programme.
The strategy adopted here is to identify and select a prominent college/University department/ USIC/deemed University. The neighbouring colleges/ educational institutes around them are requested to bring their non-working laboratory instruments which are then repaired by the WRIC technical staff. During these camps the technical staff and teachers of the colleges/educational institutes are also given training in the basic repair and maintenance of the laboratory instruments. This builds up the confidence of the teachers and technicians and helps them in overcoming their inhibitions in handling the instruments. The idea behind conducting such camps is to institutionalize an understanding that failure to provide maintenance increases operating cost, reduces competitiveness & necessitates early investment in new systems/instruments.
